Five Finished Editorials!

Soooo I have been beavering away to get a set of 5 editorial pieces finished for uni. I'm pretty pleased with the outcome of these. Four have been created digitally bar the 'Sun, Sea and Sniffles' which I posted previously on my blog.. it's rather satisfying to see it within the text I must say!

Tuesday 26 November 2013

Final gouache editorial piece for article named 'Sun, Sea and Sniffles'. Will be giving the gouache paint a rest for a while I think and give my new acrylics a bash for my next few ones !

Crown Brand Corned Beef Ad Poster

For this piece of uni work we were set to create a poster to advertise 'Crown Brand' corned beef using three space themed characters. Fast discovering that I am a sucker for punishment as these gouache pieces take bloomin ages to complete! 200x290mm all gouache on mount board.

Corned beef advertisement poster work in prog.

Another work in progress. (Finals will be completed and uploaded eventually!) Little sneak pic at alien dude corned beef addict that he is.

London 'Stories' Poster

The London transport company Serco have set their annual poster competition with the theme of 'London Stories' These can either be current, historical, fiction, non fiction etc etc. Here are a few snippets of what I'm currently working on. The whole thing shall be revealed once the slog is over!

Fun with Jesus..and beards

This is a painting I did with the tag line 'An Audience for a Sermon'. Decided to have a bit of fun with this and created an A2 gouache painting honouring Jesus and his impressive holy beard! The piece is called 'Annual Jesus Look-Alike Contest' and took over 40 hours...I now have recurring beard nightmares and am seeking therapy.

More editorials! Oh the pain

Two more client visual editorial pieces. Think I'm finally getting the hang of them! These will all be coloured eventually. The first piece is to accompany an article about the steps science it taking to being closer to being capable of mind reading. The second is about one irritated man's quest to block out the noises of modern society!

Editorial Client vis #2 'Sun, Sea, Sand and Sniffles'

Another client visual Editorial piece this time added into the text.

Editorial client visual #1 'Honeystick Project'

Soo we have began our Editorial module at university. Here's my first client visual attempt to go with an article about 50 smartphones that were intentionally 'lost' with personal data on them to see what lovelies would return the phones and which hooligans would try to access the data and keep the phone.

50 Portraits Project

As part of my university summer project, I had to create 50 portraits around 50 given words. I tried a range of different styles and techniques, here are 10 of my best.

Ok so the last one is a cactus and doesn't really count, but you try drawing 50 portraits!

'The Orphanage' Callum Chester

I was commissioned by new author Callum Chester to draw some still images to create a Youtube trailer for his free online story 'The Orphanage'(orphanagestory.com). Here are a few stills and the link to the completed article which Callum put together.

Under Milkwood working clock

So for one of my university projects I made a miniature grandfather clock with working clock face and swinging pendulum. Standing about 24 inches high this was inspired by the 1954 radio drama 'Under Milkwood' by Dylan Thomas. The idea came to me when noticing the recurring theme of time throughout the piece. I intentionally made the piece look as though it had perhaps been rolling around on the bottom of the ocean for years.

Macmillan Children Book competition entry

Here's a few pages from my entry into the Macmillan Childrens Book competition 2013. Loosely based on my own life as a child refusing to eat anything that wasn't either pasta or chocolate based!
